Church Restoration Update: Window Repairs Advancing
Church closed Monday to Friday
The long-awaited repair work on our church windows is progressing!
Important Notice: Changes to Mass Locations
To ensure the safety of our parishioners and allow the restoration team to work efficiently, the church building will be closed from Monday to Friday. The church is a worksite on weekdays and only authorised personnel can enter.
- Funerals: will be arranged on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with the contractors.
- Weekday Masses (Mon–Fri): Will be held in the Parish Centre. The church building will be closed during these days.
- Weekend Masses (Sat–Sun): Will be held in the Church as usual.
- Update: The stained glass windows at both the eastern and western ends have been removed and transported to Rick Allen’s Heritage Decorative Glass studio in Moss Vale for repair.
The sandstone surrounding the windows is significantly deteriorated. Work on the restoration of the sandstone is scheduled to begin next week and may take some time.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we undertake this vital work to preserve the beauty of our church for generations to come.

Rebuild My Church is a diocesan-wide process leading to a Parish Assembly in 2026. Walking together in faith and mission, the initiative invites every parishioner to take part in renewing the life of the Church through participation, communion, and mission.

RETURN TO SCHOOL 2026
St Matthew’s Catholic School, Mudgee
Thursday 29th January:
Primary: K-6 students commence
Secondary: Year 7, Year 11 and Year 12 students commence.
All new students for Years 8, 9 and 10 attend orientation morning
Friday 30th January 2026:
Secondary: Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 students commence

The Catholic Women's Group will be holding their first meettng for 2026 on Tuesday, 3rd February at 2pm in the Convent. All Welcome.
The AGM will be on Tuesday, 3rd March at 2pm in the Convent.
Kandos / Rylstone
The Prayer Group at St Malachy’s Rylstone will resume on Monday, 2nd February. The Prayer Group will meet weekly.
